Five Fingers is a perfect example of how I write music. Organically. I don't rush the song writing process. I wrote Five Fingers hoping it would be on my 2012 Album 'Blue Shirt.' I had the whole song written except for one very important piece .... where were my missing fingers going to be?? I tried every combination of where those two pesky fingers might turn up but nothing seemed to fit right. In frustration, I put the song aside and almost two years later it came to me! I immediately went into the studio and recorded it. Like my other new songs I am really happy with it. I hope you all enjoy.

Five Fingers

I’ve got five fingers 1, 2, 3,
I’ve got five fingers
but I only count three
I don’t know where the other two are
But I’ve got three here so they can’t be far
When I find them, I’m gonna glue them
So I will have them when I need to use them

I looked up high and I looked down low
I don’t know where those fingers could go
I looked behind the couch, I looked behind the chair
But I couldn't seem to find those fingers anywhere
I think I’ll call the Army, maybe call the Navy
Because they’re the kind of people
who will know where fingers maybe

I tell you what I’m in quite a mess
Because I am missing my f-i-n-g-e-r-s
I don't know how I am ever going to manage
Without my lovely phalanges

My missing fingers really make me sad
When I think of the fun that we have had
Like crossing, snapping and wiggling them too
Without them I don’t know what to do
I need my ten fingers
I need my two thumbs
I don’t want to be without them
I need every one

I’ve got five fingers 1, 2, 3
Wait a minute, there's the other two I see
I was giving you all the I love you sign.
And the other two have been here the whole time
Think I will take some finding finger classes
Or maybe just get a new pair of glasses

I really can't believe they've been here all along
